Sydney parliamentary prayer luncheon

Over 140 people attended Wednesday's Sydney Parliamentary Prayer lunch held at the NSW Parliament. Malcolm Kerr MP, Rev Gordon Moyes MLC, Marianne Saliba MP and Andrew Stoner MP hosted the lunch.

Gordon Moyes MLC said, “The event was supported by Members of Parliament from all sides of politics, community leaders, business leaders, religious leaders and citizens interested in coming together to pray for New South Wales and our nation.”

The guest speaker was Brigadier Jim Wallace (Retd.) who spoke on the message “Dare to Lead”. Brigadier Jim Wallace is the Executive Chairman of the Australian Christian Lobby, which is an organisation aiming to see Christian values better acknowledged in the way we are governed, do business and relate as a community. Brigadier Jim Wallace was a career soldier for 32 years where he commanded the SAS Regiment, the Special Forces Group and the Army's 1st Brigade.

Other guests included Justice Terry Sheehan who prayed for our State, Community Leaders and our Parliament, Hon. Judy Hopwood MP who prayed for the Disadvantaged, Ms Theodora Margetis who prayed for the World and Rev. The Hon. Gordon Moyes AC MLC who led in prayer for the Community.

Paul McLeay MP, Member for Heathcote read an Old Testament reading from Deuteronomy 28: 9 – 14 and John Price MP, Member for Maitland read from the New Testament passage 1 Timothy 2:1-9.
