Tekken 7 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 may debut this coming fall, while the final boss will now be a playable character. New characters include Lucky Chloe, Shaheen, Josie Rizal, Claudio Serafino, Gigas, Katarina Alves, and Jack-7. Bandai Namco has only distributed the arcade version, whose worldwide release date was on March 18.

Kazumi Mishima Origins Explored in Console Edition

Unlike previous titles, this title features a female boss going by the name Kazumi Mishima. This character is the Heihachi Mishima's wife, Kazuya's mother, and Jin's grandmother.

Like many in the powerful Mishima Clan, Kazumi has the devil gene coursing in her veins. The matriarch possesses incredible fighting combos, as evidenced in a recent YouTube posting. In the middle of battle, she can call on her pet tiger to maul opponents.

Kazumi's backstory is somewhat of a mystery, considering that the arcade edition is strictly a fighting game. However, the Tekken 7 trailer strongly suggests that Heihachi murdered her. The video ends with a vengeful Kazuya confronting his father. It is unclear whether the grandson Jin will be involved in this feud.

Happily, more details will be revealed when the Tekken 7 console editions are released this fall.

Tekken 7 PS4, Xbox One ETA

Although Bandai Namco has yet to make formal announcements, there are still rumors regarding when the Playstation 4 and Xbox One editions will be released.

Recently, Cyberland predicted a possible launch schedule set for August 2015. Bandai Namco has not confirmed the validity of this information.

Last year, Tekken director Katsuhio Harada hinted at a possible PC release sometime in the future.

"We are considering a PC version for certain countries that prefer or need to play on PC," Harada explained to Korean publication Inven. This quote was later republished by GamePur.

Tekken 7 currently runs on Unreal Engine 4. So in theory, it is possible for the game to be running on PC. Since Harada's statement, Bandai Namco has not released further details.

Character Saheen Draws Praise from Critics

The inclusion of Saudi Arabian fighter, Saheen, has been seen as move toward inclusion. The character has the traditional keffiyeh headscarf and long-flowing cape.

"To be honest, we did have an idea of an Arab fighter since 2008, but since most of the development team members are Japanese and did not know much about the Middle East culture on clothes, we were not able to fully design it back then," Harada wrote on Facebook last year.

Harada also asked for fan feedback in regards to the character. "We would like it if you all do like the character as well," he explained. Generally, fans have responded well to Saheen's costume design.

The Muslim fighter drew less controversy than the J-pop inspired Lucky Chloe character. A number of fans were reportedly disturbed by Chloe's unusual outfit and demeanor.
