Bandai Namco confirmed that Tekken X Street Fighter is no longer in active development. Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken game director, stated in an interview with GameSpot that launching the crossover fighting game could split players of both franchises. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about Tekken X Street Fighter 2016 release date and rumors on the web. 

Tekken X Street Fighter is said to be on hold for a moment. In a separate Gamespot report, Katsuhiro Harada explained that releasing the game might fragment the two communities of both franchises, in light of Street Fighter V release and Tekken 7: Fated Distribution. The latter will be launched in PS4 sometime this year.

"We don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment," Harada continued.

Furthermore, the release of Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken is also seen as one of the reasons for postponing the game's development. According to Harada, Capcom's game still had its updates until recently.

So, the arcade game company is still looking for the right time to unveil Tekken X Street Fighter. However, Bandai Namco confirmed that the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago. They also said that the moves, systems, and polygon models are already finished.

Also, IGN reported that Bandai Namco did not specify how long the game's development will be on hold.

Tekken X Street Fighter was announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2010. It is a partnership between Capcom and Bandai Namco. As a part of their arrangement, both game companies have the access to each other's cast of fighting game characters for the two crossover fighting titles. Capcom's version, Street Fighter X Tekken, was launched in 2012.               

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco had shown little of their version of crossover fighting game in years following. Despite this, they still managed to maintain its development. In August 2013, Harada stated that Tekken X Street Fighter was still in development. He also said several reasons why there are no updates on the game project after Capcom's release.

It was the first time that Harada admitted that game at Bandai Namco was no longer in the active project. They recently launched Pokken Tournament in partnership with The Pokemon Company and Nintendo.
