For some reason, there is always something more to say about Batman.  I explored the five best and worst variants of the caped crusader about a month ago, and after Telltale has its new video game series released, I might have to make an update.  This is what is known about Telltale Games Batman series as well its release date and news. 

If you are not familiar with Telltale Games, they put a lot of work making games that focus more on narrative rather than action.  They also have the license to use a lot of popular franchises like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and even Back to the Future, not to mention Minecraft's Story Mode.  For this reason, Telltale is going to focus on Batman being in his human identity.  As Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner CEO states:  "this idea that Batman is still Batman no matter what suit he's wearing, whether it's a Batsuit or a tuxedo". 

Those that were at E3 2016 were able to watch the first 30 minutes of the first episode, and it is a gritty M-rated game.  It begins with the Dark Knight Detective meeting many criminals, including Catwoman.  It is here that Batman interacts to stop them, which is done in the usual Telltale method of pushing buttons and cutscenes. 

When Batman gets back to Wayne Manor, he assumes his Bruce Wayne identity in a tuxedo and hosts a fundraiser for his friend Harvey Dent.  Like all Telltale Games, the choices are up to the player, and these choices affect how the game will play out later.  So if you want to go about Batman's day as the millionaire playboy, you can.  Or, if you want to handle Bruce Wayne's day with Batman's tough exterior, you can do that as well.  Like I have said before, Batman has had a lot of different masks throughout his 75 years of existence. 

According to Engadget, DC allowed Telltale Games full rights to the storytelling of this character.  So this is another telling of the origin of the Batman, so Commissioner Gordon isn't Commissioner yet, and Harvey Dent has not become Two-Face.  Telltale marketing head Richard Iggo has said "there's going to be things which are very, very different to the established canon". 

The first episode of Telltale's Batman series lands sometime this summer, and all five episodes are set to launch before the end of the year.  This means that its release date for them will be happening once per month.
