'The Bible' Trending on Google and Twitter, Won the Night in Ratings

“The Bible” premiered yesterday on History Channel is trending on Twitter and Google.

Moreover, the 10-hour television docudrama won the night in ratings, Roma Downey tweeted. "Huge viewership ,#thebible trended top on twitter, huge numbers, @bibleseries is epic. Glory to God."

Numerous Christian churches, ministries and media outlet have helped publicize the premier to the Christian population throughout North America. YouVersion Bible App, which has over 82 million install around the world, was named the official “The Bible” reading app.

Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church in California commented on “The Bible” TV series, “I have seen probably every film made on the Bible in the last 50 years. This is by far the best one.”

Geoff Tunnicliffe, Chief Executive Officer/Secretary General for the World Evangelical Alliance, called the miniseries not only “not disappointing” but rising to the “wow scale.”

“Attempting to take on the whole Bible in 10 hours is pretty much an impossible task for just about anyone, but apparently not for the Burnetts. They really have produced something of epic proportions,” Tunnicliffe wrote.

The project, which was filmed in Morocco, covers hundreds of years of history, beginning with the story of Isaac's sacrifice in the Old Testament, and ending with the crucifixion of Christ. Other major events that will be covered in the show include Samson destroying the pagan Philistine temple and David's fight with the giant Goliath.

Combining celebrity starpower with the story of a savior born in a stable, CeeLo Green performed “Mary Did You Know” in a promotional video for the series published to YouTube in December. It’s been viewed nearly 3 million times.
