The Blacklist Season 3's official release date is on October 1 at 9 p.m. in NBC and the show's producers promise that the next iteration of the crime drama series will not be same series fans have been accustomed to.

And as the premiere date draws near, it is not surprising that we are getting plenty of season spoilers, updates and rumors surrounding the fates of our favorite characters Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) and Raymond 'Red' Reddington (James Spader).'

According to Master Herald the next season of the popular television series will be bleaker and darker, as Liz and Red transition from being an FBI agent to being a wanted fugitive. To recall, Liz shot and killed Attorney General Tom Connolly in the season ender of Season 2 that earned him the top spot in the FBI's Most Wanted List with Red. Special Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) was tasked to hunt them down.           

Tom Connolly (Reed Birney), the corrupt leader of the Cabal, has framed Liz but was also shot by the heroine. In the last episode of Season 2, Liz recalled the night of the fire when she was young and remembered that it was her and not Red, was the one who shot her father.

Series co-creator Jon Bokenkamp explained in a statement his decision to turn the series upside down with Liz on the wrong side of the law. He further stated about the finale claiming that while the ending was exciting, it was not at all forced. He said, "It is a great shot of adrenaline. There's a real energy and urgency, and it came from an organic place."

In an interview with TVLine, Executive Producer John Eisendrath said that Season 3 of The Blacklist "will have a different feel."

"That's going to cause a lot of tension between those on the task force, each of whom has a very specific point of view about the value of [arresting Liz]," Eisendrath he said. "Ressler is a dogged, by-the-book guy who is going to bring [Liz and Red] in. At the same time, we have found opportunities for Red and Liz to convince the FBI that one of the best ways to keep track of them is to assist them in going after certain 'blacklisters', who Red and Liz are going after in order to exonerate Liz."

In the same interview, Bokenkamp provided some hints on the truth about the connection between Liz and Red.

"I understand that there's an appetite to want the whole truth," Bokenkamp said. "But the whole truth won't come until the end, and along the way, many breadcrumbs have been laid out. We're definitely working toward an endgame."

So fans have to wait and watch the entirety of the next season of The Blacklist as the truth will not come out unti; the series finale - whenever that will be. Still, "blacklisters"  can be expected the same procedural format of the show in the next season.
