Matt Damon has lately been enjoying the islands of Tenerife and Greece as he gets down to business in filming the fifth installment of the action-packed Bourne Identity franchise.

The newest film is expected to add a surprising twist as it was Damon, the lead actor, along with Christopher Rouse and director Paul Greengrass, who wrote the latest film. While the producers have not released the film's title, there are speculations that it will be called The Bourne Betrayal. With the scheduled released date for July 29, 2016, fans of the movie franchise can expect to catch the action soon as well as watch their favorite actors, including Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles and Vincent Cassel, in the action-packed thriller.

Damon returns as his much-beleaguered character Jason Bourne, the hero of Robert Ludlum's novel series. The character was first introduced in the first novel The Bourne Identity in 1980. Damon has already appeared in three of the film adaptations: The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) while Jeremy Renner stars in The Bourne Legacy  (2012).

The plot of the movie is top-secret fare though Damon admitted that the gist would revolve around civil liberties, lack of privacy and Bourne living in "an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world," something that most Europeans in present day Europe could relate.

We Got This Discovered adds that in the time that has lapsed between the last film installment and the next one in 2016, Bourne is beginning to recover his fragmented memory - and is very nearly close to recovering his missing history.

"[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn't mean he knows everything. It's 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where's he been? What's he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie," the Goodwill Hunting star said.

Meanwhile, The Wrap reveals that Riz Ahmed, who stars in Nightcrawler and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be in the Bourne movie and will play a tech specialist at the CIA. One thing is sure: Ahmed has a "key role" in the sequel though it is as of yet unclear whether he is Jason Bourne's friend or foe. The film will feature exotic key locations all around the globe, especially in the sunny isles of Europe.
