While waiting for the rumored Elder Scrolls VI, fans can look forward to The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Bethesda's upcoming card game based on the characters from Tamriel continent. In E3 2016, many players praised the digital card game's unique gameplay, which sets it apart from Blizzard's Hearthstone.

Here's the latest about The Elder Scrolls Legends release date, gameplay and review.

In The Elder Scrolls: Legends, each player starts with a life pool of 30 points and a single point of Magicka - Legend's term for Mana. Each player also gets three cards, which they can choose to redraw if they want. On each turn, players draw a card and gain one additional Magicka, which is used for casting spells and summoning creatures. Low-level minions cost one meager point, but big, terrifying monsters need a whopping 7 points.

Just like other card games, players win in The Elder Scrolls: Legends by killing their opponent's stuff and turn their life to total zero.

According to Steve Wright of Stevivor, one of the best features of Legends is its unique lane system. Also, it is the most significant feature that separates Bethesda's game from Blizzard's. In Elders Scrolls Legends, the board is split vertically down the middle. This feature encourages players to think about their card placement. When players place a new card, they must decide whether to position it in the left lane or right line. Take note that cards can only attack monsters in the same lane.

In Hearthstone, battles are won by controlling the board. But in Legends, players have to consider two lanes. It is often a good strategy to stall on one side, with defense-focused minions bogging the opponent down, while using the most aggressive monsters on the other lane.

Bethesda says The Elder Scrolls: Legends will be released to iOS and Windows PC later in the year.

In related news, it seems that players would not see the Elder Scrolls 6 anytime soon. In a recent Twitter exchange, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines said the game is not in development right now.

"We aren't working on TES6 at the moment" seems pretty vague. It could mean that the game's pre-production is already underway. Developers often begin a project on pre-production phase before the actual production starts. Therefore, it is possible that some work toward the development of Elders Scrolls 6 has been done. However, nothing is confirmed as now.
