The ETF Challenge for the 7th CCCOWE Conference 2006: the American Born Chinese

The world-renown CCCOWE (Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism) conference that will be held in Macau, China in July 2006, poses a particular challenge for the ETF (English Task Force) in bringing in American Born Chinese (ABC) to participate in the CCCOWE movement.

As the Committee members discussed the arrangements of next year's conference, their concern fell on the younger generation of Chinese Christians, who tends to only speak English or is not very fluent in Mandarin.

One of the advisors of the 7th CCCOWE English Committee, Wayland Wong, who is also the Senior Pastor of the Chinese Presbyterian Church of Orange County, CA said, "The Chinese Church cannot afford to lose so many, and she needs to challenge and call a whole new generation of ABCs into the ministry," which was posted on the CCCOWE website.

As a result, for the very first time, the 7th CCCOWE conference will include a parallel English track to show the seriousness of their effort to include ABCs into the CCCOWE movement.

Paul Wang, the chairman for the 7th CCCOWE English committee and the Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Chinese Bible Church in Burnaby, Canada said, "The vision cast by the English Task Force for CCCOWE 2006 is: To raise up a new generation of English-speaking leaders in the Chinese Church who will develop inter-generational partnerships to bring the gospel to our society and to the nations."
