The first ever four-countries joint Christian book exhibition was held at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 19-22. The participating countries are Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. As this is also the first ever Christian book exhibition held in Malaysia which is a Muslim country, it has attracted the attention of many Asian Christians.

The joint book exhibition entitled "Allowing Christ Enter this Era". The pronunciation for the first character in the phrase "enter" in Chinese is same as that of the word "book", therefore amazingly related "book" to the theme of the exhibition, which is to lead people to Christ through literature.

One of the key coordinators of this historical exhibition, David Hui, Director of the China Alliance Press, Hong Kong, has delivered keynote address. He has devoted to encourage overseas Christian publishers and organizations to join this exhibition.

The exhibition has proved to be a success as 39 publishers, seminaries, bible societies and other evangelical organizations based in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the United States, have participated. Most of the literatures are written in Chinese language.

The Christian organizations in Malaysia commented this book exhibition has helped citizens to learn about Christian culture. In addition, through the cooperation of the Asian countries, the Christian organizations have become more united and helped each other to utilize Christian resources better.

According to official figures, 30 percent of the population in Malaysia is Chinese. In the very early pioneering stage of mission in Mainland China in the 1800’s, the English and American missionaries also launched massive mission strategies among the Chinese in Malaysia and Singapore. Therefore, among the Malaysian Chinese, unlike the Muslim or animist native Malays, there are many Christians historically.
