February 22, both The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command hosted the “Lai See Day” gathering. The event is part of the “Lai See Day” donation-drive, which started January 22.
Since then, The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command has gathered no less than 130,000 HKD (US $18,571).
The event took place at the New Town Plaza in Shatin, Hong Kong on Tuesday. Those who were present included the Honorable Mrs. Anson Chan; "Lai See Day" Ambassador and Advisory Board member of The Salvation Army, representatives from the “Junior Ambassadors of Lai See Day,” and 300 students.
Major Alfred Tsang; General Secretary for The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command, the Honorable Mr. Pui-hing Ju; Director of Broadcasting at the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), and Mr. Lou-sin Siu; Assistant Director of Broadcasting at RTHK also appeared at the gathering.
At the event, Hong Kong Pop-dual “Twins” made a special appearance to publically endorse the "Lai See Day" donation-drive. According to event coordinators, the purpose of the event is to foster a new “Lai See culture” aimed at helping the underprivileged regain a sense of self-worth, visualize a brighter future, and work for a better tomorrow.
