Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Cast 2016, Release Date, Plot Rumors: What We Know So far

Ninja Turtles

Love it or hate it, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will see its release date on June 3, 2016. In the sections below, we will explore the latest TMNT2 updates regarding the latest cast information and plot rumors.

Story Returns to New York City

Recently, the New York City mayor welcomed the cast and crew to the Big Apple - where the first installment in the reboot was filmed. In fact, $63 million will be spent on production in New York City alone.

"New York City knows how to host blockbuster films," said Mayor de Blasio in NY Daily News report. "We welcome 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' to New York City, and look forward to the many jobs and tens of millions of jobs this will bring to our local economy."

It comes as no big surprise that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel is returning to New York City, considering that this is the turtle's home.

Meanwhile, parts of TMNT2 will be filmed in the neighboring city of Buffalo. The Buffalo News reports that a major expressway in the city will be closed for a car chase and helicopter sequence. Apparently, the site was chosen because of its typography.

Stephen Arnell (aka Arrow) is Casey Jones

Besides having characters from the previous film, this sequel will add a lineup of new characters - many of whom are inspired from the original TMNT comics and cartoon franchise.

More notably, actor Stephen Amell will take on the role of masked-vigilante Casey Jones. Perhaps, this is a fitting role as Amell is better known for his leading role in CW's hit-TV series Arrow. In that show, Amell's Green Arrow character fights crime outside of the law.

Realty Today recently reported a rumor that Beebop and Rocksteady will also be showing up in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. However, there have been no announcements regarding which actors will be playing the classical TMNT villains. With filming commencing in April, the cast lineup is more or less complete. So for now, this rumor carries very little weight.

Vernon Fenwick Getting a Girlfriend

Any self-respecting TMNT fanboy remembers the radical changes to the Vernon character in the 2014 TMNT reboot. This undoubtedly stirred some controversy within the hardcore fanbase.

In TMNT 2, Vernon is getting a girlfriend whom is played by Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. Last month, ComingSoon reported that a scene will be filmed showing the couple kissing at a New York.
