Tom Clancy's The Division release date may have been leaked over the internet. Ubisoft has already confirmed the game for 2016, but have yet to confirm an exact launch schedule. The Division is expected to be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Last week, Metacritic announced that The Division will be released on February 28, 2016. The source of this information remains a mystery. So far, Ubisoft has only released gameplay demos and teasers.

The game was originally scheduled for release in 2014, but was delayed for 2015. Then in May, the debut was pushed back to First Quarter 2016.

"It is never an easy decision to move launch dates, but we are committed to make decisions that will benefit the players," said CEO Yves Guillemot, according to Polygon. "As I said in my introduction, this is our most important driver as it has always benefitted the company in the long run."

Tom Clancy's The Division features heavy RPG elements that involve gameplay in an immersive openworld environment. The premise of the title takes place in New York three weeks after a lethal virus is released on Black Friday.  Society has fallen and the U.S. President activates The Division, a top-secret unit of self-supporting tactical agents. Tasked with restoring order, players must do battle to ensure the survival of innocents. Gameplay includes collecting resources and engaging in firefights.

Playable Beta Rumors

Ubisoft may release a playable Alpha or Beta in the last quarter of this year, according to a recent report by Gameranx. The publication did not state the origin of the information.

This development mirrors a previous article by IGN, which published an article concerning a public Alpha rumor. Their information came from a Reddit poster claiming to have found an Alpha section within The Division's website. A screenshot was posted, though its authenticity remains unclear.

In March, pre-alpha footage from GDC 2015 proves that The Division was leaked on YouTube. Naturally, the video has since then been taken down. This development seemingly suggests that the game's development is continuing as scheduled.

Presently, Tom Clancy's The Division is available for pre-order at participating retailers for$59.99.

Ubisoft itself has already confirmed that it will be showing off new content from The Division's development at the upcoming E3 2015 conference in June. Hence, many fans speculate that Ubisoft may indeed give an actual release date along with more gameplay footage.
