Unlocked HTC One M9 gets Android 7.0 Nougat update
It looks like the HTC One M9 is now officially picking up the Android 7.0 Nougat update in new regions. The long wait continues for HTC smartphone owners when it comes to the latest Android Nougat update. Here is the newest skinny on the HTC 10 and HTC One M9 picking up the newest Android 7.0 Nougat update. HTC

Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of Android that can be installed on mobile devices, although not all smartphones and tablets qualify for it. For starters, we do know that the more recent models tend to qualify for the latest Android updates, and Google’s very own family of devices are normally the ones that pick up the latest version of Android first before anyone else. However, LG bucked the trend this year with their latest flagship smartphone, the LG V20, arriving with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. How about the other players in the Android arena? We have found out that HTC One M9 owners -- assuming your device is unlocked, that is, are now beginning to enjoy some Android 7.0 Nougat goodness on their smartphones.

This announcement was made officially over Twitter as you can seen below, which means that it is no mere rumor or reports tricking in from different HTC One M9 owners on some user forums online.

The official announcement is more than welcome, taking into consideration how it has happened not too long after the HTC 10 flagship device also picked up the latest version of Android. Those living in the US should already be able to start seeing notifications on their unlocked HTC One M9 smartphones to download and install the update. Do take note that you should always ensure that there is enough storage space to download the update, and it is always best to perform any updates over a Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, you might eat into your monthly data allocation, and what if the Android 7.0 Nougat update download was not stable and it got cut off halfway? That would be a whole lot of data going down the drain.

Similar to how it was like for the HTC 10, the latest update made available to users will see Android 7.0 Nougat installed on the HTC One M9. It is important to note that this is not Android 7.1 Nougat, but still, Android 7.0 Nougat is better than nothing, right? What about those who happen to be carrying around carrier versions of the HTC 10 as well as the HTC One M9? You would simply need to exercise a wee bit more patience if you happen to fall under that category, since we do know that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for carrier versions of the two smartphones are slated for an early 2017 release. However, we have also received word that HTC could very well introduce an Android 7.0 Nougat update to the unlocked version of the HTC One A9 prior, but that remains speculation as at press time and will need further confirmation, so until something concrete comes out, do take that with a pinch of salt.

What can you expect on your unlocked HTC One M9 after you have Android 7.0 Nougat up and running on it? Well, simply check out the YouTube video below that hails straight from the folks at HTC.
