New Delhi, India., Jan. 9 - The VHP leader, Acharya Giriraj Kishore, has recently warned the Christian lobby not to indulge in illegal conversions aimed at dividing the Hindu society.
According to him, Buddhist organisations of the nation had conspired with the Christian lobby in illegally converting the Hindus.
During an informal chat with presspersons here, he said that he is apprehensive of the activities of the World Boudh Sangh which, in a programme held last year, converted thousands of Dalit Hindus to Buddhism at a mass conversion ceremony.
He, however, clarified that the VHP was not opposed to voluntary conversion. "But the conversion would also not be justified if it was done on the basis of hatred towards a particular community," the VHP leader said, adding that the parishad was however, keeping a close watch on the conversion activities of the Boudh Sangh.
Describing Buddhism as a religion of Indian origin, he said the parishad leaders were trying to resolve all religious issues between Hindus and Buddhists amicably through negotiations.
He also warned Christian bodies not to connive with the World Boudh Sangh to destabilise the Hindu community living in the nation.
