How do you like your cars? I don’t know about you, but I would love for mine to come with a fast outlook, fantastic styling, and of course, being eco-friendly at the same time. That might seem to be a tall order for many a vehicle manufacturer, it is by no means impossible. There has been attempts in the past to achieve this, but technology in this day and age have certainly made it far more possible and realistic. Volkswagen of Germany has revealed their 2017 e-Golf model, which happens to be a refresh made on the most subtle of levels within and without. Of course, unlike its siblings that run on gas, the name itself gives the game away -- this will be an electric vehicle, and along with it comes some rather notable mechanical upgrades.

If there is but one particular feature about the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf that must absolutely be pointed out, it would be the battery. Underneath the hood of the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf lies a spanking new 35.8 kWh unit that provides an improved range of 124 miles (or 300 km as tweeted). This might not sound like a whole lot compared to other more mature electric cars that are in the market, but if you were to take into consideration how it has far surpassed the previous model's 83-mile range, then this is certainly an achievement that ought to be commended. Apart from that, Volkswagen also offers a DC fast charging system that will be an option on the base SE model, where it will be a standard feature instead on the SEL Premium model. In other words, the DC fast charging system is capable of enabling the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf to achieve an 80% charge within an hour. It looks like we are starting to charge up our electric vehicles with fast charging support in the same manner which we do to our smartphones, yes?

Not only that, the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf has also picked up quite a spring in its step, too, as the motor that lies underneath the hood is more than capable of delivering additional power and torque. You should be able to unleash 134 ponies with the press of your right foot, as well as 214 lb-ft of twist. According to Volkswagen, this enables the 2017 e-Golf to hit the 60 mph from a stationary position at 9.6 seconds, which is a second faster than its predecessor. While this pales in comparison to the actual Volkswagen Golf performance figures, it is still impressive for an everyday electric car.

There will be slight changes made to the front and rear fascias as well as the incorporation of new lights to keep up with the times, while the interior will be more or less the same. New infotainment features are part of the 2017 e-Golf, where the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit debuts as it boasts of different car instruments crammed into a 12.3-inch screen, while the center stack sports a 9.2-inch touchscreen. Expect to see gesture controls being part of the mix in due time.

There is no word on pricing or availability for the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf, but we will keep our eyes and ears peeled.
