WEA International Director for the First Time Visited the National CCC/TSPM of Protestant Churches

On the morning of Apr. 9, World Evangelical Alliance International Director, Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe visited the National China Christian Council/Three-Self Patriotic Movement of Protestant Churches and was welcomed warmly by the Rev. Kan Baoping, General Secretary of CCC, Accompanying this visitation were the WEA-North American Council member and the staffs of Gospel Times website, according to The Gospel Times in Beijing.

This is the first time that WEA visited the CCC/TSPM of Protestant Churches. Representing CCC/TSPM, Rev. Kan Baoping welcomed Dr. Tunnicliffe and shared the situation of China’s Christianity and gave an overview of the work done by CCC/TSPM.

Dr. Tunnicliffe expressed the time for this visitation was short, but he was able to see the numerous developments in China’s churches. WEA would like to become a friend of China’s church and establish more partnership opportunities. He also introduced the work of WEA around the world.

Dr. Tunnicliffe said that WEA has three major tasks. The first task is to provide a common identity for the global Evangelical Christians around the world and then uniting them together. The second task is to provide a platform for WEA affiliate and member ministries, enabling them to begin all kinds of ministries in the world. The third task is to become the representative voice for the global evangelical Christians, declaring the opinions of the world evangelical churches to the world.

Dr. Tunnicliffe expressed his wish to sent visitation team to CCC/TSPM and churches to conduct formal visitations, developing a deeper communication with the China’s Church. Upon hearing this, Rev. Baoping welcomed such intention. After the meeting concluded, they exchanged gifts with each other.
