If you aren't familiar with the Oculus Rift, then you are not ready for a time when Virtual Reality that we predicted back in the nineties was finally going to come to fruition.  Yes, we might see a dawning of an age of Virtual Reality, but the sad fact is that most people do not have a computer that can support it.  This is what is known about how to pre-order an Oculus Rift and a PC bundle, as well as the Oculus Rift Specs, Release Date, and Price. 

According to Engadget, there are some options available for those who want to get the VR headset bundled with a new PC.  There are some discounted packages available from popular outlets such as Best Buy, Microsoft Store, and Amazon. 

At Best Buy, their Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset comes with several desktops, all of them by ASUS.  The ASUS G11D-B11 Package is $1,499.00, with another that includes a 19.5 inch LED for $1,549.97.  The ASUS G20CB-B13 package is $1,949.98, and the G20CB-B15 package is $2,199.98. 

In fact, you might want to pay extra to enjoy the Oculus Rift VR Headset with Dell Alienware Area-51 Bundle, which starts from $3,149.00 on the Microsoft Store.   It includes a Desktop PC (with no monitor), Intel Core i7-5820K, 8GB memory/2TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics, plus the Oculus Rift VR headset.  The Alienware Area-51 desktop is seen in the image above, and it is quite a monster of a PC.  The release date for this particular bundle is on April 23, 2016. 

There is a similar offer from Amazon with its Oculus Rift + ASUS Oculus Ready G11CD-WS51 Desktop PC Bundle for $1,499.00, marked down from $1,648.00.  This package includes the Rift itself, plus the Xbox One Wireless Controller, and the Desktop PC.  The specs include an Intel Core i5 6400 2.7 GHz, 8GB of RAM, 1 TB 720 rpm Hard Drive, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 graphics card. If you are considering getting an Oculus Rift for your desktop PC, you might want to see if you have comparable specs. 

These are the specs required to run the Oculus Rift:  NVIDIA GTX 970/AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater video ability, Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater processor, minimum 8GB of memory, compatible HDMI 1.3 video output, 3 USB 3.0 ports plus 1 USB 2.0 port, and an operating system of Windows 7 SP1 64-bit or newer. 

With all the pre-orders open, the actual release date is expected to ship from March 28.  The reason some of the pre-order dates later reflect that physical stock is incredibly low, according to Alphr.  As for the retail release of the Oculus Rift, CEO Brendan Iribe has said that it will be retail starting in April. 

As for the price without a bundle, expect to pay about $599 before tax, shipping, and any other factors.  The Oculus Rift alone will come with the headset, camera, Oculus remote, Xbox One controller, and a copy of EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale games.
