What Is Prophecy?

Can you imagine what it would be like to have God talk to you from Heaven? What would He sound like? What would He say?

Hundreds of years ago God talked to special men called "prophets." These men told others what God said. Sometimes they wrote it down for people to read. The prophets reminded people of God's great love for them. God also used the prophets to warn people to stop doing wrong or they would be punished.

God often told the prophets what was going to happen in the future. Since God knows everything, this was not hard for Him to do. The people knew it was a message from God. Only He could know these things.

Because God spoke through a prophet, the message was called a "prophecy." Many of these special messages can be found in the Bible. These messages were not just for the people then. They're for you and me today! God's most exciting messages were about His Son, Jesus. You'll learn what these were as you keep reading in the next few days.
