Word Records is pleased to present a very special evening of music during the 2004 Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) convention in Atlanta, GA.
On Tuesday, June 29, "Word at the Tabernacle" will feature performances from exceptional Word artists Point of Grace, Jaci Velasquez, Building 429, Nicole C. Mullen, Rachael Lampa and new artist MUTE MATH. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at The Tabernacle, across from Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta, and will be free to all registered CBA attendees.
Platinum-selling group Point of Grace has laid claim to 25 No. 1 singles (including "Keep the Candle Burning," "Circle of Friends" and "Steady On"), 14 Dove Awards and two Grammy nods. With new member Leigh Cappillino, who recently replaced founding member Terry Jones, rounding out the four part harmonies of fellow vocalists Shelley Breen, Heather Payne and Denise Jones, Point of Grace will premiere music at "Word at the Tabernacle" from their upcoming studio album, scheduled for release October 12.
In addition to multiple platinum-selling albums and Grammy Awards, acclaimed vocalist Jaci Velasquez has achieved six Doves, a Latin Billboard Music Award, a Premio Le Nuestro Award, five Billboard Music Award nominations, 16 No.1 radio hits and more than 50 magazine covers. After contributing her first effort as principle songwriter on her 2003 release, Unspoken, Velasquez is back in the studio working on her ninth album, due out in November of this year, and will debut music from the new project at the "Tabernacle" event.
Formed four years ago in North Carolina, new artist Building 429 has made a strong impact on the Christian music scene since the April release of their Word Records debut EP, Glory Defined. Made up of Jason Roy (lead vocals, guitar), Scotty Beshears (bass), Paul Bowden (guitar) and Michael Anderson (drums), the foursome have already seen the EP's title song and debut single hit the No. 1 spot on multiple radio charts in multiple formats for multiple weeks, holding the No. 1 spot on the CRW AC chart for ten weeks and the publication's CHR chart for four weeks. The group is currently preparing for the July 27 release of its first full-length album for Word, Space In Between Us.
Six-time Dove Award winner Nicole C. Mullen has written and performed some of Christian music's top songs of the new millennium, including "Redeemer," "Come Unto Me" and "Call on Jesus." Coupled with her unique blend of neo-soul, R&B and straight up AC/pop, Mullen's talents have brought her two No. 1 Inspirational Songs of the Year and a No. 1 and No. 2 AC Song of the Year at radio, as well as CCM Magazine's #1 AC Song of the Year for "Redeemer." Mullen has just completed the recording of Everyday People, her first studio record in three years, and will give the "Tabernacle" audience a first listen to songs from the new project, due in stores September 14.
At age 15, vocal powerhouse Rachael Lampa captivated a nationwide audience with her debut appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and her hit 2000 Word Records debut, Live For You. Since then, the Dove Award-winning performer has blossomed into a visionary artist with two additional albums, 2002's Blur and Kaleidoscope, and along the way garnered four No. 1 radio singles, including "Blessed" and "God Loves You." At The Tabernacle, Lampa will be performing new material from her forthcoming release, Rachael Lampa, which is scheduled to hit stores July 27.
MUTE MATH, comprised of Paul Meany (vocals/keys), Darren King (drums) and Greg Hill (guitars), is the first signing in a joint venture between Word Records and award-winning producer Tedd T's Teleprompt Records. Produced by Tedd T, MUTE MATH's debut five-song EP, reset, is scheduled for release September 28, and is expected to be one of the most innovative new projects in Christian music this year.
The 55th Annual CBA International Convention will be held June 26 through July 1, 2004, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The event brings together nearly 10,000 store owners and managers, retail leaders, authors and artists, special guests and company representatives to promote the success of the Christian retail industry.
