Microsoft's monthly Xbox Live Games with Gold free games list will be announced soon. Meanwhile, three free games on Xbox One and Xbox 360 are set to expire on the last day of May.

Bear in mind that the complimentary games are only available to those who paid the monthly Games with Gold subscription. Interested parties can sign up at the official Microsoft site.

When Will Microsoft Announce Free Games for June

Generally, the free games list is updated on the 29th of every month. So, the free games list for June will not be released until May 29.

Free games in May included CastleStorm: Definitive Edition, Mafia II, and F1 2013. As a bonus, Microsoft had extended the deadline for Pool Nation on Xbox One. Currently, the free game offer for Mafia II on Xbox 360 has expired.

There is only about one week left for Xbox 360 Gold subscribers to enjoy playing F1 2013 for free. Happily, Xbox One users will get to play CastleStorm and Pool Nation FX until the end of this month.

We will follow up with a report as soon as the June list is available. In the sections below are descriptions for the remaining three games for the month of May.

CastleStorm: Definitive Edition (Xbox One), Available May 1-31

Xbox One subscribers will have the opportunity to experience medieval combat in a rather cartoony side-scrolling environment. CastleStorm is a hybrid of the tower-defense genre and physics-based destruction games.

The premise of the title revolves around the never-ending struggle between knights and barbarians. Players have the ability to spawn troops and control siege weapons. Combat is rudimentary, consisting of simple sword swings. Gamers also have the ability to customize their home castles. The point of this game is to bring down the enemy's stronghold through various means of attack.

Pool Nation FX (Xbox One), Available May 1-31

Games for Gold members will be the first ones ever to try this title. Players will play a virtual game of pool that boasts photo-realistic graphics and real-world physics. There will be a variety of game modes that includes online matches. Gameplay revolve around rule sets. If the player is up to the task, he or she may compete in Leagues.

F1 2013 (Xbox 360), Available from May 16-31

Based on the real-life racing franchise, this game has players driving on virtual racetracks in beautifully rendered F1 racecars. F1 2013 has every vehicle, driver, and circuit in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship. Nostalgic racing fans will also be able to relive the racing circuit in the 1980s.
