For those that have been looking forward to the free games from Xbox Live Games with Gold, there is good news as a full list has been made available for March 2016.

Generally, the list of official free games for the Xbox Live Games with Gold program does not become official until Major Nelson posts it.  SlashGear reported a leak of it yesterday, and the list of free games match the "official" report.

Speaking of things that match, we reported last week that one of the free games would be Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment.  We were right, as this game is available for the Xbox One starting on March 1 and going to March 31.  Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is a game with six cases, and they are self-contained, as accomplishments in one case do not affect the others.  Some the cases are direct adaptations of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle source material.

The other game available for the Xbox One is Lords of the Fallen.  The Steam Store describes the game as:  "The Demonic Rhogar army is re-emerging from its dark realm. Harkyn, a convicted criminal rejected by society is the world's last hope for salvation. Plunge into a fast paced action RPG using powerful magic alongside a complex and satisfying melee combat system."  It sounds like quite a AAA game, and it will be available from March 16 to April 15.

For the Xbox 360, which is also available for the Xbox One thanks to Backwards Compatibility, is Supreme Commander 2 from March 1 to March 15.  Supreme Commander 2 is of course a sequel that was released in 2010 from Square Enix.  The game is a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game that has a very deep story taking place in a futuristic universe full of war.

Xbox 360 players can also have an opportunity to play the hit game Borderlands from March 16 to March 31.  This is the original version of the game that was released back in 2009, and this would be a good time to get on board this action role-playing first-person shooter before playing Borderlands 2 or Tales from the Borderlands

So that is all the games that are available for the month of March.  There is still time to get in on some of the games still available for February 2016, including:

Hand of Fate will be available for the Xbox One all monthfrom February 1-29.  This game involves the player in visiting some fortune teller who is using magical Tarot cards to put the player in a real life (within the context of the game) Role Playing Game (RPG).

A game available for players of the Xbox One is Styx: Master of Shadows.  It begins on February 16th and goes until March 15th.  According to the game's Steam entry, the game is named after Styx, the main character of the game who is a two-hundred-year-old Goblin, with a lot of fantasy RPG elements.

Xbox 360 players will then be given a special treat with Gears of War 2, available from February 16-29.  Unlike all the other free games for this month, which take place in a very fantasy or alternate medieval history, Gears of War 2 takes place in the future.
