If you are an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, then you would surely have had your fair share of free games from time to time, with some months offering some rather notable titles, while other months are considered to be slim pickings. What about the month of October? How has it treated you so far? Xbox Live Gold members are now able to download not one, but a couple of new titles for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. Obviously owning an Xbox One has more benefits, since it is backwards compatible with all the other Xbox 360 titles.

The Escapists is an interesting $19.99 title, and do not let its heavily pixelated graphics put you off. It might have a ring of Minecraft to it, but that is about all of the similarities that this strategic title has with Mojang’s hugely popular title. In The Escapists, you are required to think of an escape plan for a bunch of inmates while taking into consideration the prison schedule. It is as much a strategic title as it is a puzzle solving game, and we do hope that this will be able to help gamers develop their sense of creative thinking skills when approaching problems in real life. In other words, The Escapists is but a video game version of “Prison Break”, and is available for download on the Xbox One between now and November 15.

As for the other title that will come under the Xbox Live Games with Gold October 2016 lineup would be Ubisoft's $14.99 I Am Alive. This particular title is meant for the Xbox 360, but as mentioned earlier, the Xbox One too, will be able to handle it since it is backwards compatible with older titles. Available for free until the end of this month, do not let your procrastination habit get in the way.

While you might be enjoying Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings since the first of October 2016, it is still available until the end of the month -- saving you $19.99 in the process. If you would like to get some sports games on your console up and running, perhaps a peek into this baseball title might just do the trick. The other title which is no longer available for free download in Xbox Live Games with Gold October 2016 games would be the MX vs ATV Reflex, alongside Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China for the Xbox One platform.

Do take note once again that those who have subscribed to the Xbox Live Games with Gold program will be able to gain access to the free titles every single month. Surely there is a price attached to it, but at least having 4 titles a month to choose from at random is worth the price over the course of the year. There will be hits in between the misses for sure, but Xbox One owners are the ones to benefit the most from such a subscription. Perhaps it is time to ditch that Xbox 360 for an Xbox One console, or even the Xbox One Scorpio.
