Good news for students and parents out there! Microsoft is giving away free Xbox One unit to students buying Surface Pro 4 tablet. Even though summer has just begun, the premium tablet is perfect for students who are going back to school. Now, here's how you can get the free Xbox One unit, and we'll give details about Xbox One Slim pre-orders, release date and price.

The free Xbox One promo runs from now until August 14. Any student or parent in the US and Canada who purchases a Surface Pro 4 tablet and an Xbox One game console in the Microsoft Store can receive $300 discount -- enough to buy one unit of the gaming console.

Take note that parents must purchase the devices for student use. They must add an $899 Surface Pro 4 and a $299 Xbox on their cart, and then the Xbox One's price will be slashed at checkout.

Furthermore, the free Xbox One unit comes with two games, an extra Xbox One wireless controller and a $50 gift code. For free games, buyers can choose from The Crew, Assassin's Creed Unity and Just Dance 2016. Owning the current Xbox One is still a good idea. The console can run some the upcoming new games that were announced at E3 earlier in June.

CNET said Microsoft's new promo is a move to clear out the existing Xbox One consoles as preparation for the release of Xbox One Slim (Xbox One S).

Speaking of the Xbox One S, Microsoft announced that the preorders for the new Xbox One S 2 TB model are off to an "amazing start."

GameSpot reported the Xbox One S is 40% smaller than the existing model. It also provides more luminous colors in games and video with High Dynamic Range technology. Gears of War 4 will be one of the first games that will run on the slimmer Xbox One console. urthermore, the console can stream 4K videos on Netflix and Amazon Video.

Microsoft confirmed the Xbox One Slim will become available August this year. Interested buyers can preorder it at Microsoft Store, Amazon and GameStop.

Aside from the Xbox One S, Microsoft is also making the Project Scorpio. The company calls it as the "most powerful console ever made." It is rumored to become available in holiday 2017.
