Android N Update Release Date for Google Nexus, Samsung, LG, Sony, Motorola and HTC

Android N preview is currently available for the latest Nexus devices, but the firmware might land on non-Nexus handsets too in the next couple of weeks. Google's developer website hints the beta program could spread to different mobile phones.  Now, here's what is currently known about Android N release date, features and rumors on the web.

A Reddit user found interesting information from Android N Developer Preview website.  The HTML text notes in the website suggest that the Android N preview could become available in wide variety of devices. In the "What's New" section of the website, it writes "More supported devices, including devices from OEM partners" will get the firmware.

By looking at the previous releases of Android, Google has never released a beta software to non-Nexus gadgets thus far. This is because Nexus gadgets receive the operating software directly from Google, instead of carriers or OEMs. However, this trend might change with the successor of Android M.

International Business Times reported that the Android N Developer Preview might become available to near-stock Android devices like the ones from Motorola. For other phone makers like HTC, Samsung and LG, it is not yet confirmed if their devices will have Android N beta software.

Nonetheless, it is safe to say that Motorola's Moto X lineup might have the Android Preview in the next few weeks.

Tech experts explain the beta program of Android N is important to fix critical bugs and system issues before releasing the software to the general public. This is also done to avoid fragmentation issues surrounding Android.

We previously reported that the early version of Android 7.0 N is now working on Pixel C tablet, the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9.

For gadget lovers who want to download Android N, go to the Android Beta Program website, and sign in using Google account. After that, head to "Enroll Device" button to get the firmware via OTA update.

According to Tech Radar, the upcoming operating system from Google will have features like Bundled notifications, Direct-reply notifications and Multi-window. The latter will let users work in split-screen mode on tablets and phones.

We'll learn more about Android N next month at the Google's I/O developers conference, which is set to happen on May 18-20 2016. The official release date of fully functional Android N is still unknown; we'll provide more details once Google made an announcement.
