With much talk about the next-generation iPhone 6S and Samsung's recent announcement of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+, Sony now appears to be bringing its A-game to the mobile device arena with its upcoming Xperia Z5 flagship.

The Japanese device maker has been teasing its new handset for the IFA 2015 event next month. Based on a recent teaser photo, the smartphone seems to be focused on its photography feature. For those wondering about the device's actual camera specification, freshly leaked photos now show exactly what it will be.

A Sony-focused tech site called XperiaBlog.net has managed to get a hold of what appears to be press images of the yet-to-be announced Xperia Z5. The renders were reportedly posted on official social media accounts of Sony Mobile but were subsequently removed.

While there are plenty of leaked images for the said Sony handset, this is the first time that the camera specification has been exposed. The new photos also seem to confirm sources from China's notoriously leaky supply chain asserting that the model will be fitted with a 23-megapixel main camera.

As mentioned, the unofficial Xperia Blog uploaded three photos, which can be seen above. The first one depicts a wet Xperia Z5, suggesting an expected waterproof design. Another image shows the device's camera and the lenses within. The third photo portrays the rear side of the handset and does not really reveal much detail.

Upon close inspection of the second image, a marking on the side of the camera states that it will indeed have a 23MP sensor. The site further claims that it is actually a "1/2.3-inch 23MP Exmor RS camera with six-lens system."

Apart from the camera, previous reports have mentioned that the next-generation Xperia flagship will have a 5.2-inch display with either an HD 1080x1920 or a 1440x2560 resolution. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 is said to powering it inside supported by either 3GB or 4GB worth of RAM.

Moreover, the Xperia Z5 is also said to arrive with other variants in tow. In a separate leak, the infamous Evan Blass has shared a Twitter post suggesting that the Z5 will be accompanied by an Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium, which is also reportedly called Xperia Z5 Plus.

The Sony Georgia account he cited turned out to be fake but Blass mentioned that it does "jibe" with what he has heard. It is possible that he is referring to a Facebook photo that Sony Mobile's official Jordanian Facebook page accidentally uploaded.

The said photo, which is no longer available at the time of this writing, confirmed Sony's announcement plans for its IFA 2015 event on September 2. The date is less than one week from now. So whether Sony decides to unveil one or three Xperia Z5 models, Xperia loyalists will have to wait just a little longer to finally see the real deal.
