The fighting game was first released in arcade version in Japan early this year. This will be the first time the next installment of the immensely popular and long-running fighting will be played outside the country and give players in other parts of the world a chance to get their hands on the new title.

In late June Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., teased on its official Twitter account about a major announcement on July 7 regarding Tekken 7 that sent fans of the blockbuster video game on frenzy mode.

Bandai Namco's message was written in Japanese, but its translation in English reads, "On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, there will be a major announcement from the Tekken project, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Please look forward to it. #Tekken7," the tweet reads.

Bandai Namco's July 7 announcement will not solely focus on Tekken 7 but will also discuss the 20th anniversary of the hugely popular Tekken series, said Attack of the Fanboy. Fans of the Tekken franchise are hungry for any update on the next installment as Bandai practically skipped the recently concluded E3 2015 Convention.

Attack of the Fanboy also reported the announcement by TEKKEN 7 director Katsuhiro Harada about an official TEKKEN 7 tournament to be held this year in Japan. The winner of the King of Iron Fist Tournament will earn around $82,000 in cash prize. The official Tekken web site provides more information about the tournament.

VC Post said the number of Tekken characters has risen to 50 so far.
